A spunding valve is a device used in the brewing process to control the pressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) within a fermentation vessel. It allows brewers to manage the level of carbonation in their beer while it is still fermenting. Here's how it works:
The spunding valve is set to a specific pressure, and it releases excess CO2 when the pressure exceeds this setting. This helps maintain a consistent pressure within the fermenter. By adjusting the spunding valve, brewers can control the amount of CO2 dissolved in the beer, achieving the desired level of carbonation. It allows for natural carbonation, which is often preferred over forced carbonation for its smoother mouthfeel and better flavor integration. It also acts as a safety device, preventing the fermenter from over-pressurizing and potentially exploding. Using a spunding valve can lead to better beer quality and consistency. It's especially popular in lager brewing, where precise carbonation is crucial. Requires 1/4 MFL quick disconnect fitting for application. Not included.

Very good brew
I have have now brewed this twice both times delivering a good result. The first time I used 500g DLME and 1kg dextrose as fermentable sugars. The second batch I dropped the DLME for a lighter finish and slightly lower ABV. Both variations delivered a refreshing and easy drinking beer.
